Stade Ports
Stade’s emergence as a market town and its development to a prosperous city are closely connected to the port development. The port history dates just as far back as the 1000 year-old city of Stade itself. Apart from the seaport town Bützfleth, on the nautical waters of the Elbe, there are a number of other ports that are mainly used by sporting and traditional vessels.
Stadersand
Originally designed as an emergency port at the mouth of the Schwinge, the Stadersand port is a transfer and mooring port for commercial shipping.
New Stade Port
The city port is not very significant for commercial shipping because of the distance to the waters of the Elbe and the limited draught in the Schwinge. However boaters love to come into the city's harbor in their boats and vintage ships.
Marinas
For sailors and motorboat captains, there are the marinas of the Segler-Verein Stade (Stade Sailing Club), the Motor-Yacht-Club Stade (motor yacht club) and the SC Diamant Stade on the Schwinge. The Bützflether Süderelbe has the Abbenflether Wassersportverein (Abbenflether Watersports Club) marina.
Historical Ports
As a historical port, without significance for commercial shipping or pleasure craft operators, there is the Old Port (Hansehafen) in the center of the old town of Stade, and former raft and timber port.
