"The Dow Chemical Company mainly produces chlorine-based chemicals at its production location in Stade. Liquid and gaseous chemical production substances and products are handled in the Südhafen, which is exclusively utilized by Dow. The port is one of the relevant factors allowing Dow to produce economically in Stade."

"In the Nordhafen, bauxite is handled as a raw material for production as are aluminium oxide and aluminium hydroxide. These products are manufactured in the production plant nearby. AOS (Aluminium Oxid Stade) has been producing at this location for more than 30 years and, like Dow, carries out the handling in the Nordhafen with its own personnel."

"Bulk cargo is transshipped on the premises of the Port Operations Association. This joint venture was founded in the 1990s in order to transship these goods for local supply in and around Stade. The managing directors are the companies Elbclearing and WIKA Sand und Kies, a member of the Heidelberger Cement Group."

"The newest terminal at the harbour is the Multi-Purpose-Terminal belonging to the Buss-Gruppe from Hamburg. Ships of up to 180 meters can be handled in the initial expansion phase. Project cargo, general cargo, container, bulk or RORO be handled in this area. Furthermore, the terminal, which was constructed according to the most recent safety standards, offers warehousing for hazardous goods for 46 TEU."
